You love and adore your Southern upbringing, but sometimes people get confused about your Georgian heritage. For people in the Conyers area, here are the 10 ways you know you're from Georgia.

1.      You defend the Waffle House. It's a delicious roadside eatery, not a literal house made of waffles. You enjoy this establishment, and you'll defend it to the death when someone questions or insults it.

2.      You have a general kindness. You smile a lot and exude an overall politeness mixed with gratitude. It's called Southern hospitality, and everyone from Georgia has it.

3.      You tell people you're from Atlanta. You know it's technically a lie, but it's just easier to say this so people understand where you're from. Most non-Georgians have only heard of Atlanta or Savannah, so you take the easy route and pick one them. The truth is, you could be from Athens, Augusta, or Conyers, but people won't look confused if you just say Atlanta.

4.      You have a different definition of iced tea. Others may call it iced tea, but in the South, sweet tea is the thing, regardless of whether you enjoy it while sitting on your front porch.

5.      You love Coca-Cola. You love this soda not just because it's delicious but also because you have a sense of local pride. Not a lot of people know that The Coca-Cola Company started in Georgia. Plus it just sounds weird when someone says, "Jinx! You owe me a Pepsi."

6.      You hate when people ask if you know Honey Boo Boo. Georgia is 59,425 square miles, so not everyone knows each other.

7.      You don't worry about snow. Yes, it does snow in Georgia, but not the kind of snow our northern neighbors deal with every winter. When it snows here, it's pretty much guaranteed that it will be gone by the next day. It's not global warming, it's just Georgia.

8.      You order grits with any meal. Grits are a wonderful side dish that can complement any meal, no matter what time of day it is. However, you get annoyed when people mistake it for oatmeal. It's made from corn. Do corn and oats look alike?

9.      You fear fire ants. We may not have to deal with a lot of snow sticking around, but we do have to deal with fire ants. They're vicious little bugs and their bites sting!

10.   People think you love peaches. If people know that you're from Georgia, they assume you love peaches. But peaches aren't the only fruit that grows in Georgia! We also have great strawberries and blueberries and festivals to go with them.

Whether you're from Conyers, Oxford, or Loganville, we hoped you've enjoyed our list while you sip a glass of sweet tea or head to your local Waffle House.
