Trail Rated®

The Cherokee Trailhawk® comes with optimal traction thanks to an Active Drive 4x4 system, with a crawl ratio of up to 51:21. Need to cross water? No problem. The Cherokee can go in water up to 19 inches deep when properly equipped because it has electrical and body sealing, a high air intake, and a tall ride height. Tight turning is made easy in the Cherokee thanks to a 38.1-foot turning diameter, while the articulating frame lets you cover rocky ground without applying stress.

4x4 Systems

There are three 4x4 systems to choose from on the Cherokee. First is the Active Drive I system, which has a rear axle disconnect so you only use the four-wheel drive when necessary and save on gas in other situations. The Active Drive II system adds a low range and Neutral Mode. The Active Drive Lock system has a rear axle lock and Selec-Terrain® Traction Management Rock Mode.

Engines

There are three engines to choose from on the Cherokee. There's a 2.4-liter Tigershark® MultiAir®2 engine that has 180 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. The 3.2-liter Pentastar® V6 engine has 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine gives the Cherokee 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. You can tow up to 4,500 pounds when equipped with the V6 engine, and the nine-speed automatic transmission provides a smooth ride.
